Itinerary
🍔
Dinner at Five Guys — on the way
Stop for burgers en route to St. Moritz. Five Guys makes a solid motorway pit stop — load up before the mountain roads begin.
🌙
Arrive & check in
~3 h from Zurich, ~2.5 h from Chur. Settle in, get your gear sorted for the morning, early night.
⛰️
Via Ferrata Piz Trovat
The classic Engadin ferrata, starting from the Diavolezza cable car station. Vertical rock faces with spectacular views straight down onto the Pers glacier and across to the Bernina massif. One of the most scenic ferratas in all of Switzerland.
🔄
Alternative: Via Ferrata Muottas Muragl
Shorter (B/C difficulty), gondola-assisted start, with a sweeping panorama over the three Engadin lakes. A good warm-up choice if the weather is uncertain.
🍺
Dinner in Pontresina
10 min from St. Moritz — better food, better prices, proper mountain village atmosphere. Skip the resort restaurants and eat here.
🏔️
Corviglia Bike Park
Lift-served trails directly above St. Moritz — mix of flow tracks, jump lines, and technical blacks. Take the Signal gondola from the village. Multiple laps are easy since you never have to pedal back up.
🔄
Alternative: Furtschellas (Sils/Silvaplana)
15 min drive, more natural singletrack feel with the turquoise Silsersee shimmering below. Great option for a change of scenery from Corviglia.
🚲
Bike rental
Full-suspension rentals available in St. Moritz and Pontresina — book ahead for Saturday, they sell out fast in peak summer.
🚵
Option A — Second bike day
Maloja area trails are excellent and much less crowded than Corviglia on a Sunday. Full-day option if your legs are willing.
🥾
Option B — Piz Nair summit
Gondola to 3,056 m, then a short hike to the summit for a complete 360° Engadin panorama. Easy on tired legs and perfect for a clear Sunday morning before the drive home.
🍳
Option C — Slow morning, drive home easy
Big brunch, walk around Silvaplana lake, on the road by noon. After two hard days, no shame in taking it easy.
Practical Tips
🧗
Via ferrata gear
Rent harness, helmet, and via ferrata set in Pontresina or St. Moritz. Book ahead — stock is limited in summer.
🌤️
Check the weather
Engadin weather shifts fast. Check Friday morning before committing to the ferrata — you need dry rock. Swap to biking if it looks uncertain.
🏨
Stay in Pontresina
Cheaper than St. Moritz, better food, and perfectly positioned for both the ferrata and the bike park. A real mountain village.
🎫
Lift passes
Buy Corviglia bike park passes online in advance. Signal gondola opens around 9 am — get there early to skip queues.
☀️
Sun & altitude
St. Moritz sits at 1,800 m — UV is brutal. High-factor sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wind layer are non-negotiable even on warm days.
🚗
Parking
Park at the Signal gondola base for Corviglia. For Piz Trovat, the Diavolezza car park is right off the Berninapass road — large and free.
